Profile

I have lived in the West Berkshire / Wiltshire area for some 34 years ending up most recently on the Hungerford side of Froxfield, where my wife and I have lived for the last 7 years. I love Hungerford and really want to contribute to maintaining its existing character and charm whilst helping to facilitate and implement plans to ensure it remains a thriving, attractive and inclusive place to live and work for generations to come.

Although an accountant by training, I have started, grown, undertaken turnarounds and sold companies all my adult life. I have variously been a Chairman, CEO or CFO of a venture capital investor; corporate finance and M&A broker; turnaround consultancy; furniture manufacturer; ground maintenance business; TV production company; and many more. Most recently a technology start-up, which I started with 2 friends, that now dominates its market sector in the UK (based in Hungerford) and I am also non-executive director of a chain of shops, of which one is based in the Hungerford parish.

I have 3 grown-up children with my late wife, who died of cancer some years ago, and 7 grandchildren. I also have 3 grown-up step-children with ‘the current Mrs. Montgomery’, as Terry Wogan would have said. I volunteer as a Trustee of the Duchess of Somerset Hospital, which operates 50 almshouses in Froxfield, and as a Trustee of The White Horse Federation, that oversees the running of 33 state schools between Reading and Trowbridge. I also volunteer as a school-reader in a primary school in Aldbourne.
